91�� Digital Collections include photographs, postcards, yearbooks, radio broadcasts, publications, and nearly 100 years of 91��'s history in the form of campus newspapers. Slippery Rock Digital Collections are part of the KLN (Keystone Library Network) Digital Collections which uses both Islandora and CONTENTdm to manage the digital collections.

91�� archives utilizes Archive-It to preserve 91�� affiliated webpages. Some highlights include previous versions of the main 91�� website and the Bailey Library website as well as the now defunct RockPride Online.

The Saxigena was Slippery Rock’s yearbook from 1911-2007. This collection includes the full run of digitized issues from the University Archives as well as the 1898 Class Annual, the 1910 Anamnisis, and the 2006-2007 digital only edition.

The Rocket (1934-present) is 91��’s student newspaper. The University Archives provides digital copies of the entire run of the paper. See also .

Shared Voices, Shared Experiences is a rapid-response archive project aimed at collecting, preserving and sharing experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic in the lives of everyone connected to 91�� and the surrounding communities.

91�� Archives is looking to capture the experiences of 91�� community members, (regardless of their geographic location during the Spring 2020 semester), as well as the experiences of local residents of Butler, Lawrence, Mercer, and Beaver counties. to view or contribute to the collection.

Publications

The Alternator (1987-2004) was a publication started by Robert Macoskey for the ALTER Project. The Project started as a means to educate students and the public about the ways they can contribute to improving the condition of the environment through changes in their own lifestyles.

Course catalogs were published in print from 1889 until the 2003-2004 academic year. The following academic year 91�� switched to an all online course catalog. Catalogs contained course and degree descriptions, curriculum outlines, an academic year calendar, fees, history of the institution, scholarship requirements, information on individual Board of Trustee Members, administrators and faculty, and other useful information for students.

The Green and White was the student handbook that was published through 2003. The handbook contained rules and regulations for students concerning dining, dorm life, smoking, dress codes, etc. The Green and White also contained helpful information about the college such as calendars for sports and other events, fees, hours of various campus offices, campus services available to students, and, of course, the Alma Mater. In 2004, the Green and White was replaced by the online Student Code of Conduct.

91��’s Symposium for Research and Scholarship, now the Symposium for Student Research, Scholarship and Creative Achievement, was created in 2001 to celebrate and share the scholarly achievements of the university community. Launched by Dr. Patrick A. Burkhart, the symposium and it’s Journal of Scholarly Endeavor were the result of a motion carried by the University Forum in May of 2000. The Journal of Scholarly Endeavor presents the abstracts of the annual Symposium, representing a broad collaboration of interests from across the institution. The journal was not published in 2021 or 2022.

The Slippery Rocket (1918-1930) preceded The Rocket as Slippery Rock’s campus newspaper. It was published jointly by students and faculty.

Victory Bell was created by George Miller in January 1942. An Art Department faculty member at Slippery Rock State Teachers College (SRSTC), Miller corresponded with Slippery Rock students serving in World War II. The newsletter featured excerpts and news from these students’ letters. Victory Bell was distributed to soldiers associated with SRSTC all over the world.

Audio and Visual Items

This collection includes selected WRCK radio broadcasts from 91�� basketball games in 1984.

The 91�� Photographs Collection features images that span the history of the institution from State Normal School to the present day. Highlights include aerial views of campus from the 1940s to the 1990s, senior pictures of the classes of 1898 and 1902, Slippery Rock State Teachers College armed forces personnel, and the North Hall fire of 1937.

This collection features vintage postcards of the Slippery Rock campus, both hand-tinted and photographic. Included are South Hall, the Model School, a rare interior view of the Chapel, and early 20th century acrobatics on the campus lawn.
